Paste your site's address. That's the whole form. Before anything else happens, DashboardWP quietly checks the site from the outside: it follows redirects to the real address, confirms the site answers over HTTPS, and looks for WordPress fingerprints like the REST API. If it isn't a WordPress site, you'll know right away, before anything is installed.

STEP 02

Pair the connector

The connector is a small plugin that gives your dashboard a secure line to the site. There are two ways to get it there. Pick whichever suits you.

Automatic Enter your wp-admin login once. A background job signs in, installs and activates the connector, and pairs it. The credentials are used for that one job and never stored.
Manual Prefer doing it yourself, or your login page has 2FA or a captcha? Install the plugin, copy the one-time key from Settings → DashboardWP, and paste it into the dashboard. The key stops working the moment pairing succeeds.

The dashboard takes over

The moment the connector pairs, setup starts on its own. DashboardWP pulls a full inventory (plugins, themes, WordPress core, users), captures a screenshot and favicon for the site card, and switches on the routines you'd otherwise have to remember: backups, security scans and uptime monitoring. A few seconds later the site is simply… managed.

The connector doesn't open your site to the internet: it answers only requests it can prove came from your dashboard, and rejects everything else.

Yes. The automatic install can't get past a two-factor prompt or captcha, but that's exactly what the manual flow is for: install the connector plugin yourself, copy the one-time key and paste it into the dashboard. It takes about two minutes.

No. It's a small plugin that does nothing until your dashboard calls it: no background tasks on your site, no extra cron jobs, nothing loaded on your public pages. All the heavy lifting happens on DashboardWP's servers.

The automatic install uses it once, inside a single background job, to install the connector, and it is never written to the database or logs. The manual flow never asks for it at all. After pairing, the dashboard talks to your site with signed requests, not passwords.

The site simply shows as disconnected in your dashboard. Nothing on the site breaks and your content is untouched. Reinstall the connector and pair again whenever you like; your backups stay safe in the meantime.

If your host can run WordPress and your site is reachable over HTTPS, it works. There's nothing to install on the server itself: no SSH, no FTP, no server-level access needed.
